Olivia, mamma to Alice 5 and Harvey 2, is a Melbourne travel agent (based in the Inner West) providing a personal service for both holiday and work travel arrangements.

With over 15 years’ experience working in boutique, retail and wholesale travel companies, Olivia brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to meet your travel needs - anything from family holidays to group trips, detailed itineraries or just pure relaxation – Olivia can take all the hassle and confusion out, pulling it all together so that all you need to do is enjoy your precious time away. Olivia is also available for home visits and out of hours calls to suit busy lifestyles.
My passion for travelling began as a young child. Staying in the countryside of Europe, going to markets and learning the local language gave me a wonderful appreciation for other cultures and I’ve never looked back. I began working in the travel industry as a teenager in our family-run business, and now have over 10 years’ experience working in boutique, retail and wholesale travel companies combined with several years’ experience as a Project Coordinator for environmental and community programs.
This experience along with having travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Central America, Africa and Australia, has given me exposure to many different countries, cultures and types of travel - backpacking, tours, volunteering, self-catering, resorts, cruises and more recently, family holidays have become my specialty. Whether it simply be a relaxing family holiday in the one spot or a more active 'on the move' itinerary I can help you navigate the options for your family to make travelling with kids as easy as possible.
I am particularly passionate about responsible travel and holidays that have a meaning and purpose where the cultures and people of the destinations are put first. Regardless of the type of travel, I can help prepare an itinerary that inspires and matches your needs and interests. As a Travel Counsellor, I have access to an extensive and competitive range of travel products including airfares, hotels, tours, attractions, cruises and insurance and can tailor all of this to provide unique experiences.
My first trip to Bali was only as a gateway to the eastern islands of Indonesia because like many others I had in mind that Bali wasn’t for me. How wrong I was! The kind and peaceful Balinese culture soon washed over me and I have since travelled there many more times.
The first time I took my young family, the difference in my daughter’s development after the trip was astounding, mainly due to the interactions she had with the Balinese and their genuine interest in talking to her and getting to know her. I believe this is why travel is so important for widening the perspective of children from a very young age, so that they learn about other cultures and learn that the world is bigger than just their backyard.
I have always had a strong desire to run my own business and wanted more flexibility around the hours I keep. With a background in environmental and social sciences and communications along with over 10 years experience in the travel industry in varying roles I thought why not open up my own travel business where I can use all the skills I have developed and be my own boss.
I am treating it as an experiment in life and to safeguard this decided to run my business as part of the global Travel Counsellors network. This means I have access to a fantastic level of support and training and my clients can rest assured they will receive a personal service with the backing of a sound global brand.
This has been a steep learning curve but I am getting there. The best thing is to be able to have concentrated time to work and focus on the business (like a normal job) and then I don’t have to spread myself thin across the week and can be present for my small children when I am with them. Getting to know my customers is a key part of my business and in particular with family customers they quickly realise how alike we are and relate even better to me because of it. The benefits of being able to drop around for a cuppa to discuss their trip or deliver their documentation is just so unique. very soon they realise that if I’m not immediately available I more than make up for it by
Learning about other cultures, keeping abreast of world issues, innovation and talking about travel. My children and family also motivate and inspire me.
