Tell us a little bit about yourself:

We live in Canggu and we’ve got similar stories – we have both been here for 3 years now.

Initally we came with our families for a year to see how we found it, after many years of frequent  travelling to Bali on surf holidays. 3 years later and we are still here and loving it!

Nat’s background is in photography and Rachel’s social work. Our kids ended up at the same school and we decided to team up a few years ago and create a business together.

How was Silk Case created?

Natalie had the idea of making silk pillowcases as she had used one for many years and loved it.

We developed our own signature prints and designs as we wanted to do something unique that no-one else was doing. We mainly focus on pillowcases and sleep masks but sometimes dip our toes into homewares on the odd occasion!

We’ve got some stockists now but mainly sell via our own online store. We love collaborating with our friends and other mamma's on the island for photo shoots and promotions, it always ends up being creative and fun!

What are your hot tips for juggling family life and running your own business?

For us, family always comes first and our work is flexible so we can work it around (or even involve) the kids. Its always a juggle and its pretty much impossible to get the balance right so just do your best and don’t beat yourself up if the balance tips the wrong way every now and again!

What inspires you creatively?

Being on the island is always a great source of inspiration. Canggu is full of creative people and the environment itself is so beautiful so we love to use that in our designs too. Our Tropical Dreams print is one of our most successful and our personal favourite, its hard to beat a palm tree!

Family island faves:

Eat:

So many to choose from locally– Quince, Milk and Madu & The Shady Shack for the day time and One Eyed Jacks, Trattoria (for the best pizza), and La Finca at night.

For dinner in Seminyak we love Merah Putih, Da Maria and Barbacoa.

Play:

The beach! You can find us at Echo beach (at the local warungs or La Brisa) or Berawa beach most weekends, we all love it and we spend plenty of time watching the kids surf and drinking coconuts!

Shop:

Batu Bolong in Canggu - Auguste, Haze and Glory, Velvet and so many more popping up all the time! In Seminyak, we love the little market in seminyak square for a market bargain and Kim Soo for everything beautiful and home related

Stay:

For a bit of luxury, the W in Seminyak and for some time outside of Canggu on the weekends, we love roadtripping to Balian or Komune in Keramas.

Terima kasih lovely ladies xx
