Where the spiritual meets the commercial…
The tourists come by the busload, and the traffic to and from at peak sunset hour is ridiculous, but the fact is that the Pura Tanah Lot temple nestled in the sea, is still one of the most beautiful, breathtaking and sacred temples on the island.
Get here early at sunset to claim a clifftop viewing spot, and you’re in for a real treat. The little ones may not fully appreciate the glorious sight as yet, but it it is nice to include some cultural activities in the holiday plan and get them started young appreciating other cultures, religions and rituals.
The atmosphere is fun, busy and buzzy and there are sure to be other kiddies running about, both tourists and locals.
The warungs and small shops to get a sunset drink and snack are aplenty, as are the market stalls selling over-priced knick-knaks, souvenirs and trinkets.
Pay a visit to the Holy snake too…. eeek.
