  • Give the old man a break…

We love to go to Old Mans with the boys as they know instantly they are as welcome as adults. With its circular bamboo structure, relaxed new bar area, and close proximity to the beach it works well for families. Although a new establishment it is already an ‘iconic’ Canggu meeting place.  We visit as a one stop beach, play, eat adventure and there are always other little people to muck around with.

The kids menu is full of old faves like pancakes, toast and eggs,  fish and chips, pasta, fresh juices and milk shakes, so the boys are in 7th heaven. Serving yummy Indonesian as well as western meals all in a ‘surf club meets beach bar’ style. The menu is great for sharing dishes that appeal to both parents and kids.

The funky blue art wall by Aussie artist Lucas Grogan is like a magnet for kids, and they love to hang out in the garden area after eating. There is lots of space to run around, a box of wooden toys to play with and comfy cushions to lounge on too. The atmosphere is relaxed and communal and the kids pick up on this.

The casual wooden tables are great for messy eaters and sticky fingers, there are high chairs for the bubbas and an ocean breeze to keep you cool.  From the restaurant you can see the waves out front and can easily head down for some fun in the sand, or rent a colorful long board and have a turn with Dad as the break “Old Mans” is a great beginners wave.

Open for brekkie, lunch, dinner and cold drinks and snacks in between, Old Mans is casual, cruisy and cool. When we take our three boys out for a family meal and a play they are always super keen to head to Old Mans. It’s fast becoming a family ritual!

    Open daily, 7am – 9pm
