  • Relaxed vibes, sweet treats & a serve of “Monkey Business”…

Just off the side of Jl Pantai in Berawa, is the quaint Milk & Madu. This gorgeous little café, run by the team behind the uber popular Watercress, simply oozes that quintessential Bali vibe which makes this island so appealing.

But Milk & Madu is made all the more wonderful thanks to being nestled under a traditional open structure. This means there is plenty of room for the kids to move around, including a peaceful side courtyard, and a small garden replete with stepping stones.

We landed the gorgeously large communal table in the centre of the café and within minutes of our arrival, our littlest was handed a wooden box full of toys. A few moments later, a box of crayons arrived for the older ones. When the coffee came too, we were a family of pigs in the proverbial…

But first, coffee. Bali’s superb bean purveyors, Revolver have popped up here so you’ll be happily caffeinated before continuing your relaxing ways. The juice and smoothie menu kicks some serious health conscious butt and the Green Minded juice was fab.

Despite the relaxed vibe, the service and the food are anything but laid back. The breakfast menu boasts great options including the very tasty poached eggs on smashed peas or an awesome selection of skillet eggs. Little Bali Lovers can enjoy fluffy pancakes, Vegemite soldiers with soft boiled eggs or lashings of jam on thickly sliced toast. And just like its sister restaurant Watercress, the popular Monkey Business (banana, honey + cinnamon milkshake) is on offer for the kidlets.

What excited our kids was the impressive sweet treat selection under the cute moniker, “I’m not a vegetarian, I’m a dessertarian!” There is a vast array of ever changing options taking the meaning of coffee and cake to a new level.

When we’re next on the island we’ll be straight back to Milk & Madu to sample their lunch menu although it will be a tough choice between a Gourmet Brioche Burger or a Byron Earth Salad Bowl. All washed down with an icy cold Bintang of course. Choices, choices…

    Open Tuesday – Sunday 7am – 5pm (Closed Mondays)
