  • Beautiful + unique = Balique

Located on one of the Jimbaran main streets, stepping into the traditional open air building, Balique instantly offers a cool and calm vibe, and combined with the unique vintage decor, is reminiscent of a bygone era or the “old Bali”.

But don’t be alarmed by the stylish surrounds, tiny diners are most welcome here, and Balique is the perfect choice if you are looking for a more upmarket venue for lunching with the bebe’s.

It is set back from the road, and the spacious interior with different seating options including cushion clad couches and table and chairs in a variety of styles and sizes lends itself to families dining out with little ones, or to larger groups.

There is a fabulous kids menu available for both lunch and dinner with intelligent and healthy options. Perhaps the little Mademoiselles may enjoy Chicken breast with vegetable fricasse and potato puree, or a bowl of Spaghetti Pomodoro. Homemade fish fingers, chicken and cheeseburgers served with hand-cut french fries are all of excellent quality and the complete opposite of the processed frozen counterparts often found lurking on other kids menus.

For dessert the little ones can enjoy chocolate brownies, ice cream or fresh fruit salad.

For adults the menu offers a mix of Indoensian and European fare… beautiful fresh salads,  chilled Gazpacho, a variety of tartines, pizettes, pastas and burgers, as well as an excellent version of Nasi Campur, Nasi Goreng or even Ikan Pepes – red snapper wrapped in banana leaf.

The restaurant is open all day for both lunch and dinner, but with little ones we think it makes for a better lunch option, with its breezy, spacious, open air vibe, and less patrons than the mature evening cocktail set.

Hot tip for the Mamma’s – make sure you leave time to pop into the attached boutique “Villa Balquisse Living” next door… stunning homewares, pretty trinkets and whimsical objects.

Open every day from 11.30am to 11pm

Dress code is smart casual (sorry no Bintang singlets here!)
