Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I've always loved the tropics and my love affair with Bali started as a child visiting for holidays. I love the mix of chaos and calm that create the Bali experience and the diversity on offer. My two favourites things are being a Mum and Travel…. throw in some little luxuries and a new culture and I am happy. We lived full time in Bali with our three boys for seven years and now divide our time between Bali and Byron Bay. Im always up for a challenge and new adventure and think mixing it up is a good idea!

How was ‘Bali Family Villas’ created?

Bali Family Villas came about by helping my own family and friends find great places to stay on the island. I loved the process and saw a need for family friendly villas and dedicated services. The little things make a big difference when travelling to Bali with kids. I started the business based on feedback from friends and it was an organic process from there. I love it when people love Bali, so it became my personal mission to help families find the best accommodation options for their holiday.

What are your hot tips for juggling family life and running your own business?

I often have to remind myself that I started the business to work around the needs of my kids, and not to fit my kids in around the needs of the business. Of course it feels like a tug of war at times, because I am passionate about both! Prioritising is key for the Business and Family ‘To-Do’ lists. On my lap top I have two separate lists and the Family ‘To-Do’ list comes first in colour and bold! My husband and I work on the business together so we also have a rule not to talk about work at home. When Im with the kids I try to be all there.

What inspires you creatively?

Im inspired by the Balinese people and the way they make beauty from nature. Its in the daily offerings, their flower arrangements, chanting, cooking and art. Their culture is overflowing in creativity and their gratitude for the little things in day to day life is infectious.
