Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I grew up between Singapore and Melbourne, and have always loved travelling to experience life’s cultural diversities. I found Bali to have the perfect blend of culture, lifestyle, people and opportunities, the next thing you know… I’ve been here for 10 years (eep...time flies!)

Working with children has always been a constant thread in my life as well, it gives me lots of fulfillment collaborating and communicating with children in an empowering, intentional but yet playful way. I am now also a mum of a toddler that never ceases to amaze me and I’m lovin’ every single minute of motherhood.

How was ‘The Anak Atelier’ created?

I have always been fascinated by how children learn and play. Being an early childhood educator in the past gave me plenty of opportunities to reflect on how relevant our education and play systems are in supporting children to develop skills that are useful for the future. This sparked my interest to build an educational and play facility that advocates valuable skills for lifelong learning in children.

What are your hot tips for juggling family life and running your own business?

I don’t think I’ve got a handle of it yet to be honest! It’s never easy, but you just have to plan ahead, prioritise and be flexible when things don’t go as planned.

What inspires you creatively?

Wherever I travel, I love visiting children’s museums, interesting playgrounds (especially those set in naturescapes), and inspiring early learning centers that do purposeful and beautiful work with children. Most of all, talking and sharing ideas with children hugely inspires me! The creative design of The Anak Atelier and the logo have mostly been derived from dialogues with children about what they want most in their play and learning environment.
