Let’s get this out of the way up front, FuramaXclusive Ocean Beach Seminyak is a block of serviced apartments not a resort. But it’s a block of apartments WITH all the added extras of a hotel including pool, waterslide, a kids play centre, bar, restaurants, room service and even a day spa! FuramaXclusive will definitely tick all the boxes for many families who don’t want (or need) a luxury resort, but instead want an affordable and spacious accommodation option in the heart of the action, with the beach just steps away.
When we stayed they were currently renovating and creating a new lobby and entrance area, so the check-in and check-out process in the downstairs restaurant was a little hectic.
The building is starting to look a bit shabby around the edges, and the apartments are in need a revamp, so it will be great to see what it looks like once the renovations are complete. Stay tuned!
The little guests are super lucky though as there are two brand new additions for kids that have recently been completed.
The first is the awesome new kids waterslide and water play area which was an absolute hit with my girls. If you have younger ones, this will keep them happy and well entertained with no need to leave the hotel and pay to go to a waterpark.
And secondly, the brand new Waka Waka indoor playground with trampolines, slides, climbing nets, a big pirate ship, toys, games, a ball pit and all sorts of fun things in a safe and supervised space where the kids can run wild.
Waka Waka is also open to non-hotel guests which is a bonus if you are staying elsewhere in the area and looking for activities to keep your little ones occupied on rainy days, or when the midday sun is just too hot to be out and about. There is an entry fee, which hotel guests have to pay too, and the kids need to wear socks. Don’t worry if you forget you can buy a cheap pair there.
The pool area is great and there were plenty of balls, floaties, and lilos for the kids to use.
There’s also a little playground area on the grass with a trampoline, however apart from that the pool and garden areas are quite compact.
And if your little travellers are anything like mine, they love to indulge in some pampering too. Mum and kids spa treatment packages including massages, manicures and pedicures are all available at the on site Ocean Spa - we loved our Mummy and Daughter afternoon spa session together (sorry Daddy!) and left feeling relaxed and totally blissed out.
As mentioned above the pool area definitely ticks all the boxes for the kids, however for the adults sitting around the pool it is incredibly cramped with too many sun-loungers pushed right up against each other and no room to walk around them. There are a few circular daybeds which are comfy to lie on and plenty of umbrellas for shade too.
The famous Double Six beach is just steps away, literally right out the front of the hotel. There you’ll find plenty of small beach bars for sunset drinks, and a few surf schools, with the well known and reputable Santai Surf directly opposite the hotel. This surf school is run by a family and is particularly good (and safe) for kids surfing lessons.
The buffet breakfast was simple but offered all the usual suspects - fruit, bacon and eggs, toast, freshly baked croissants and pancakes.
We didn’t have dinner here, but we had lunch each day either by the pool or in the restaurant and we found the prices very reasonable (all prices are net too which is super handy) and the food all of a very good hotel quality. There is a nice mix of Western options including pizzas, club sandwiches and burgers, as well as lots of Indonesian options too - perfect for my little nasi and mie lovers.
All of the staff we met were really fantastic! Polite, friendly, efficient and well trained.
Room service is also available if you wanted to eat in your apartment, and enjoy your own drinks.
For afternoon poolside treats, we were so happy to see our favourite Paletas Wey vegan fruit popsicles available by the pool.
We stayed in a spacious 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom apartment - and compared to standard hotel rooms it was positively huge with a kitchen including full sized fridge, living room, not one but two dining areas, and opening on to a big outdoor balcony.
We stocked our fridge with our own wine and beers, and enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and people watching from our balcony, seeing as we were looking right at other rooms and the walkway to the lift. It was kind of fun chatting, waving and smiling to everyone as the passed us. The inside of the apartments didn’t feel overly private either, with floor to ceiling glass walls and doors it felt a bit like being in a fishbowl. 🙂
That said, the apartment style of accomodation is still such a great option for families who want space to spread out, settle in, and perhaps save some rupiahs by making use of the kitchen and enjoying some meals in.
There are 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, offering a variety of options for families of all sizes.
If you want to be in the heart of the action, with the beach right out the front, and walking distance to pretty much everything, then this could be the place for you.
It is located right in the middle of both Seminyak and Legian, so you will have plenty of cafes, shops, restaurants, markets and beach bars to explore in either direction, including the famous La Plancha which is just a few minutes walk up the beach.
